Hope Community Pantry

Hope Community Pantry provides free, reliable food assistance to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across South Mississippi. Through weekly pantry distributions and mobile outreach, we work to ensure that no family has to choose between food and other essential needs.

Our approach is rooted in dignity, respect, and community connection. We meet people where they are and serve without judgment, recognizing that access to food is foundational to stability and well-being.

who we serve

Hope Community Pantry serves individuals and families across Marion, Forrest, Lamar, and Walthall counties, with outreach extending into surrounding areas as capacity allows.

We prioritize support for:

  • Low-income households

  • Families with children

  • Seniors and individuals with disabilities

  • Immigrant and Spanish-speaking families

  • Individuals experiencing temporary or ongoing hardship

Food insecurity is often connected to broader challenges such as unemployment, health concerns, housing instability, and family stress. Hope Community Pantry works as part of Hope Community Collective’s wrap-around model, connecting families to additional support services when needed.

By addressing immediate food needs, we help create space for long-term stability, healing, and growth.

HOW THE PANTRY WORKS

Located in Columbia, MS

Our Pantry distributes shelf-stable groceries for food-insecure families or individuals every Thursday from 2:00-6:00 pm (drive-through pickup). You may pick up for your family once per month, any Thursday of the month. Participants must fill out paperwork once to receive food for a year. This can be filled out in person at the weekly distribution.

For participants: The monthly distribution occurs in the parking area DIRECTLY BEHIND Woodlawn Preparatory School at Woodlawn Church, located at 1452 Hwy 98 E, Columbia, MS 39429. On the day of our distribution, you will see signage indicating where to drive through for pick up.

You must come in person with a photo ID to fill/sign your application. At your first visit, you may designate another person to pick up for your household.

To expand access beyond a single location, Hope Community Pantry also operates the Big Hope Truck, a mobile food distribution program that brings groceries directly into neighborhoods with limited transportation or access to food resources. Follow our social media accounts and watch for those announcements!
